Data You Give Us Directly
Information entered into a name, phone, or address search is sent to the third-party provider that supplies those results; this reference service does not keep a copy of the query. If you contact the operators, the message contains the name, address, or details you choose to include. Keep sensitive identifiers out of an email unless the recipient's official instructions require them.
Data We Gather Automatically
Hosting systems may record routine technical details such as an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referring page, and timestamps. Those logs are used in aggregate to maintain the pages and understand broad traffic patterns. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics or advertising measurement where the hosting setup enables them.
How We Use This Data
Technical and contact data may be used to operate the reference pages, answer a message, find a broken link, understand aggregate use, and improve the wording or structure. The service does not sell a visitor list or build an individual profile from ordinary reading activity.
Links to Other Websites
Directory pages link to the Imperial County Assessor, Clerk-Recorder, court, elections, City of El Centro, library, archives, and other external resources. Their own privacy notices control information submitted on those services. Sponsored search results are also provided by a third party with its own data practices and terms.
Who May Receive Data
Hosting and support vendors may process ordinary server logs. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above when those services are enabled. Information may be disclosed when a valid legal process requires it. It is not disclosed for unrelated purposes.
How We Protect Your Data
The pages use an encrypted connection, and log retention is limited to the operational need of the hosting service. There are no user accounts or passwords on this reference service. No security method can promise absolute protection, so avoid placing an exact date of birth, Social Security number, driver's-license number, or protected address in a message.
Users Under 18
The material is intended for adults and is not directed to children. The operators do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent personal information, a parent or guardian may use the Contact page to request its removal from the contact mailbox.
Your California Data Rights
California's Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by Proposition 24 and the CPRA, is codified in Civil Code section 1798.100 et seq. Depending on the circumstances, a California resident may have rights to know, correct, delete, or opt out of sale or sharing of personal information held by a covered business. The California Privacy Protection Agency maintains the current laws and regulations information. The statewide Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, or DROP, provides a current route for certain data-broker deletion requests.
The California Public Records Act, Government Code sections 7920.000 through 7931.000, governs access to many state and local records, but those public records are held by their custodians and are outside this service's control. A deletion request to a private reference service cannot erase a deed, court filing, voter record, or vital record maintained under another law. Use the Contact page for information held in the contact mailbox or ordinary logs.
Updates to This Policy
When the collection or use described here changes, a revised policy will be posted on this page. Continued use after the revision date means the updated policy applies to later use. The page keeps the current effective wording and a route for questions.
