Terms of Use

These terms apply to your use of El Centro Residents Directory. By using the pages, you accept the terms below. Do not use the service if you do not accept them.

1. What This Reference Is

El Centro Residents Directory is a privately operated reference service. It describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, library collections, archives, and official portals that may document people, parcels, or past households in El Centro and Imperial County, California. It does not host government records and has no affiliation with any government office, court, library, or custodian.

2. Rules for Lawful Use

Use the service only for lawful purposes. You may not use it or information reached through it to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm a person.
  • Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order.
  • Commit identity theft, fraud, impersonation, or another offense.
  • Make a decision regulated by the FCRA, including credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the material at scale.
  • Interfere with the operation, security, or availability of the service.

3. No Consumer Reporting Agency

This service is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. section 1681 et seq. Nothing on these pages, and nothing returned by a linked search tool, is a consumer report. None of it may be used to evaluate eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose covered by the FCRA.

4. Outside Links and Tools

Imperial County, City of El Centro, California, library, archive, court, and third-party services maintain their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control their content, uptime, pricing, search results, or handling of submitted information. Sponsored search tools are outside services as well.

5. No Warranties

The reference is supplied “as is” and “as available.” No warranty is made that a page, fact, portal, link, fee, coverage date, or search result is accurate, complete, current, secure, or available without interruption.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or similar damages arising from use of this service or a linked resource, including an action taken from information found through it.

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold the operators harmless from claims, demands, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorney fees, that result from your misuse of the service or violation of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

The original writing, design, logo, and layout belong to the operators and are protected by copyright. A link and a brief attributed quotation are welcome. Republishing a complete page or systematically copying the directory content is not permitted.

9. Changes to These Terms

Updated terms may be posted on this page. If you continue using the service after a revision appears, you accept the revised terms for later use.

10. Ending Access

The operators may block or limit access for a user who violates these terms, abuses the service, or threatens its security. That action may occur without advance notice.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by California law, without applying conflict-of-law principles. References to the California Public Records Act mean Government Code sections 7920.000 through 7931.000. The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by Proposition 24 and the CPRA, appears in Civil Code section 1798.100 et seq. Those statutes govern qualifying agencies or covered businesses and do not make this private reference service a records custodian.

12. Severability

If a court finds one part of these terms unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect to the extent permitted by law.

13. Questions

Questions about these terms may be sent through the Contact page.
